Reliable source - new round of US Bethel layoffs coming soon
by sir82 inwas talking to an ex-bethelite who is still very well-connected to those in the ivory tower.. he says that there will soon be a(nother) large number of us bethelites who will be "reassigned to the field" as pioneers and special pioneers.. he did not give his source, but he is pretty reliable.
incidentally, he was "reassigned to the field" in the last big purge about 7 years ago.. i imagine those so reassigned would be pretty teed off.
let go just before the golden lakeshore palace was completed..

I'm not a jw but my SIL is. After her last visit to Bethel she told me that ones that leave Bethel after serving are always looked after. I remember her specifically saying "the Society continues to take care of them for the rest of their lives". I don't believe she would lie to me so I can only assume that she believes it to be true. -

My wife , Son and DIL living with us ,have still not acknowledged my birthday today @ 5:15 pm , I might have to drop them a subtle hint.
by smiddy ini know being a witness for 33 years and not celebrating b/days you do lose the habit , but i thought one of them would have remembered ?
oh well .. maybe i will just rub it in with them tomorrow .make them feel guilty , eh ?.
then again i might just start singing "76 trombones" at the dinner table tonight .

Smiddy, I hope you have a wonderful birthday! Drink a toast to yourself with dinner After all, you've made it through another year and that is reason to celebrate! I've never quite understood the whole birthday problem. I know, the bad examples of birthdays in the bible etc... but honestly, what is wrong with telling someone happy birthday - I hope you have a fantastic day?

Songs celebrating leaving the faith? Not being a puppet, mind controlled, living life, etc etc
by aley63 ini am looking for some songs that are in ref to celebrating leaving, seeing the light, realizing what you were told wasnt right, being happy w your life, etc etc.
all those emotions about being controlled and repressed, being told what you can feel or think or how to live, blindly following the "brotherhood ".

This song speaks to me. I even chose it's title for my name on this forum.Closer To FineBy Indigo GirlsI'm tryin' to tell you somethin' 'bout my life.
Maybe give me insight between black and white.
And the best thing you've ever done for me
Is to help me take my life less seriously.
It's only life after all.Well darkness has a hunger that's insatiable,
And lightness has a call that's hard to hear.
I wrap my fear around me like a blanket.
I sailed my ship of safety till I sank it.
I'm crawling on your shores.I went to the doctor, I went to the mountains
I looked to the children, I drank from the fountain.
There's more than one answer to these questions
Pointing me in a crooked line.
And the less I seek my source for some definitive,
The closer I am to fine. The closer I am to fine.I went to see the Doctor of Philosophy
With a poster of Rasputin and a beard down to his knee.
He never did marry or see a B-Grade movie.
He graded my performance, he said he could see through me.
I spent four years prostrate to the higher mind,
Got my paper and I was free.I went to the doctor, I went to the mountains
I looked to the children, I drank from the fountain.
There's more than one answer to these questions
Pointing me in a crooked line.
And the less I seek my source for some definitive,
The closer I am to fine. The closer I am to fine.I stopped by the bar at three A.M.
To seek solace in a bottle, or possibly a friend.
I woke up with a headache like my head against a board,
Twice as cloudy as I'd been the night before.
And I went in seeking clarity.I go to the doctor, we go to the mountains.
We look to the children, we drink from the fountain.
We go to the Bible, we go through the work out.
We read up on revival, we stand up for the lookout.
There's more than one answer to these questions
Pointing me in a crooked line.
And the less I seek my source, the closer I am to fine.

If you're interested it is easy to make the nectar for the feeders. I boil 4 cups of water and mix in one cup of sugar and let it cool to room temperature. That batch will fill my feeders and last all week. Once they know there is food you'll have several of them buzzing around. They're beautiful and are one of my favorite things of summer

Disfellowshipping Image
by naazira inthis photo can be found in the april 15 , study edition article titled:.
why disfellowshipping is a loving provision.
just by looking at this image we can see how quickly the barrier between the congregation and former member is put up, after the announcement that this sister is no longer one of jehovah's witneses.

If this type of treatment is expected I would not have been a good jw. I would have gone home and called her to see if she was ok. Then I would have most likely been df'd for associating with her.
I can't be friends with someone and then in the blink of an eye treat them like they don't exist. That is not normal behavior and there is nothing loving about it!

My Real Calling / Mission In Life Is Here on J-W.com
by smiddy insometime during or after my conversion to jehovah witnesses 55 years ago , i felt it was my calling , duty , mission , to preach the word , and witness to as many people as i could about the watchtower`s interpretation of the bible that i believed was the truth.. and may i presume i am not alone there .i feel many if not all would have had similar thoughts.. without being presumptuous i think i have found my real calling in life , in doing what little i can to add my 2 cents worth in exposing this religion for what a fraud it actually is ,especially to the newbies , because most of us here have already found ttatt .. so witnessing to the truth about jehovah`s witnesses on this board , gives me much more pleasure than i ever had witnessing for the watchtower organization.
and this site / board has enabled me to do that , thank you simon ,ang, and company.. smiddy.

Mid 80's, I was just out of high school, lived with my best friend in our first apartment. Went out dancing 3-4 times a week with a group of friends (and still made it to work the next morning). Went to lots of concerts and saw all of the bands we loved (mostly 80's alternative stuff) and just had fun!! -

"the society" always sounded rather cultish to me. I never used that phrase either. -

"You're either in the truth or you're in the world"
"You're either for jehovah or you're for satan"
I was never baptized so I always assumed there was something wrong with me but I never felt comfortable calling anyone "brother or sister" or using the phrase "in the truth"
